The FTN Network For The BBS Scene
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Setup Guide for QWKNet (Synchronet Systems) - 09/01/10

This guide is to be used by sysops who choose to receive SciNet via
Synchronet's built in QWKNet network transfer as opposed to using FTN style
technology. You must pick one or the other. FTN or QWKNet, not both.

1. Once you receive your BBSID and password from the SciNet Coordinator you
need to logon to the Diskshop BBS (telnet://bbs.diskshop.ca) with your
BBSID and password. Once you get to the QWK: prompt you need to hit C to
Change the packet configuration to match the following:

	QWK Settings:

	A) Ctrl-A Color Codes : Leave in
	T) Archive Type : ZIP
	E) Include E-mail Messages : Un-read Only
	I) Include File Attachments : Yes
	D) Delete E-mail Automatically : Yes
	F) Include New Files List : No
	N) Include Index Files : No
	C) Include Control Files : No
	Y) Include Messages from You : No
	Z) Include Time Zone (TZ) : Yes
	V) Include Message Path (VIA) : Yes
	M) Include Message/Reply IDs : Yes	(Synchronet v3.10+)
	X) Extended (QWKE) Packet Format : No

2. We need to set your Sychronet system with your BBSID. In scfg go to
Message Options -> BBS ID for QWK Packets and set it to the BBSID that was
assigned to you by the SciNet Coordinator.

3. Now that you have your QWK settings done, you will have to import
scisubs.txt file into your Sychronet system. You do this by going into
scfg -> Message Areas and create a new Message Group called SciNet. Next
we are going to import the scisubs.txt message group list by choosing
    Import Areas -> SUBS.TXT.

4. You might want to change the QWK Tagline for each area located in the
    Networking Options of each sub.

5. Now we need to setup the Diskshop BBS as a QWK Hub. In scfg go into the
Networks menu and choose QWK Packet Networks. Choose Network Hubs and
create a new QWK Network Hub and call it DISKSHOP. Make sure the settings
for the DISKSHOP hub match the following. Remember to replace YOURPASS
with the password that was supplied to you by the SciNet Coordinator.

    Hub System ID DISKSHOP
    Pack Command Line %@zip -jD %f %s
    Unpack Command Line %@unzip -Coj %f %s -d %g
    Call-out Command Line *qnet-ftp %s bbs.diskshop.ca YOURPASS
    Call-out Node 1
    Call-out Days All
    Call-out Frequency 24 times a day

6. Next you are going to link in the SciNet message areas. While still in
the QWK Hub settings menu for the DISKSHOP choose Networked Sub-boards.
You will have to go through all of the message areas in the SciNet Message
Group and set the Conference Number on Hub for each area to match the
    following:

    SciNet: Sysop's Only Echo 7000
    SciNet: General Chatter 7001
    SciNet: BBS Ads 7002
    SciNet: League 77 Gaming 7003
    SciNet: Warez Chat 7004
    SciNet: Art Scene 7005
    SciNet: BBS Software 7006
    SciNet: BBS Modding 7007
    SciNet: OS Discussions 7008
    SciNet: nix chat 7009
    SciNet: Programming 7010
    SciNet: Gaming 7011
    SciNet: Sci-Fi Chat 7012
    SciNet: Fantasy Chat 7013
    SciNet: Enthral BBS Support 7014
    SciNet: bbs-scene.org Support 7015
    SciNet: Daydream BBS Support 7016
    SciNet: Mystic BBS Support 7017

7. If you plan on joining any of the League 77 InterBBS games then you need
to create a few folders. If you don't plan on joining any of the games
then you can skip this step. Create two directories in your
sbbs/data/qnet directory. One called diskshop.in and one called
diskshop.out. This will allow you to transfer game packets back and forth
    via QWK networking.

Once you have everything setup, post a message in the Sysop's Only Echo to
make sure that the connection is up and running. You should start to see mail
flow in and out after about an hour.
