  SHADEDIT Usage Notes:
  =======================================
  1) Obtain current copy of beta program from me via email.
It will be distributed inside shadedit.zip beta archive.

Copy of editor-specific files are also inside Hitswork.zip.

  2) Unzip all files from shadedit.zip into your IGM directory,
using overwrite mode so you get the newest files.

  3) Change into the Hiding In The Shadows IGM directory. Verify
that you have a current SHADPLAY.DAT file. If you don't have
one, then you can't use SHADEDIT.EXE.

Note that this igm is designed to retain some data from the
prior day when one or more players are asleep in the IGM.

  4) The first time you run the utility, it will ask you for
the path to the Hiding In The Shadows IGM directory. Type it
in, and press ENTER to exit the dialog box prompt. The
utility's config file SHADEDIT.CFG will be created in the
     directory that you specify.

  5) Run SHADEDIT.EXE. If a config file is not in the directory
you run it from, it will ask you to create on - as noted
above. If config file is found, it then checks for existence
of SHADPLAY.DAT file. If one is not found, program will
give error message and quit working.

SHADEDIT has only one screen of data. The actual layout
in use is based on the redesigned player database layout
which will be used when the HITS igm is converted to use
     the ANGEL Tool-kit.

It is currently FULLY compatible with the player database
in use by HITS v2.50. Each value shown can be changed
by the user, except for Player Number and Spouse Number.

Player # is the player's LORD record number, and is not
change-able by the player database editor. In initial
coding, the Spouse Number field will be display-only. It
contains the LORD player # of the player's spouse, or -1
if the current player is NOT married to a player.

  6) When you exit SHADEDIT, it will resave the SHADPLAY.DAT
file so that any changes you made will be accessible to
     the IGM.

  7) If you Delete a Player's record, the ACTUAL deletion from
the player database is handled by the IGM when it runs
New Day processing. To force the IGM to do New Day, for
purposes of testing Player Deletion, first backup the
database file - so you can restore data later if needed.
Then delete the shadtime.dat file and enter the IGM.

The IGM will then do New Day processing and create a
brand new player database, which will only contain the
current player's record and records for any players
who are asleep in the Lair's Inn.
