WASHINGTON DC (Microbytes Daily News Service) --- Zenith
Electronics Corporation has sold its computer division to Groupe
Bull of Paris, Zenith president Jerry Pearlman announced
afternoon. The division includes Zenith Data Systems, known for
its IBM PC-compatible desktop and laptop computers, Heath
Company, and Veritechnology Corp.

According to Zenith spokesperson Glen Nelson, the sale price of
the Zenith Computer Division will be about $635 million, based
on the July 1989 balance sheet. The sale is expected to become
effective in 60 days, he said.

Groupe Bull owns Honeywell, manufacturer of minicomputers and
mainframes. Its US subsidiary, Bull HN Information Systems, is
based in Massachusetts.

According to Nelson, operations at Zenith will probably remain
unchanged; however, the distinctive lightning bolt "Z" in the
Zenith logo, and the slogan "The Quality Goes In Before The
Name Goes On," will no longer be used.
