Odesta Corporation has introduced a new version of Data Desk, a
statistical and exploratory data analysis (EDA) program for the
Macintosh. Odesta says that Data Desk 3.0 has such new features
as color support, new graphics capabilities, enhanced plots and
tables, and better performance.

You can use Data Desk 3.0's color graphics to give your data
additional meaning and depth. You can assign values to different
colors, or use colors to code groups of data. By adding values to
colors, for example, you can add a fourth variable to a
three-dimensional rotating plot. Furthermore, Data Desk 3.0 lets
you choose from a palette of 64 colors, thus giving you control
over how to best use color to highlight what's most important
in your data.

Data Desk 3.0 includes a graphical interface to specify and
work with General Linear Model (GLM) designs. Also new are
"link buttons" and "jot notes." Link buttons let you link
together analyses and plots; with jot notes, you can type in
comments next to any window (perhaps to explain the
significance of a particular graph to another user). Another
new feature is "multiple line plots," which allows you to show
several series on the same plot.

Price: $595. The upgrade price is $75 through the end of 1989,
but will climb to $125 next year.
