DataEase International announced DataEase 4.2, a relational
database that addresses up to 16 megebytes of RAM on a 286- or
386-based system.
 
Also added to the earlier versions of DataEase is MultiForm
referential integrity, which gives application developers more
control in linking records in different files.
 
DataEase Query Language is another feature that gives you
control over application development. Eighteen Query Language
Options are added in version 4.2.
 
You can convert applications from Lotus 1-2-3, dBASE, Symphony,
and Paradox, according to the manufacturer. You can also import
and data from (and to) the same programs as well as variable and
fixed length ASCII and DIF files. Eight Query by Example output
formats are included with 4.2 along with 58 text, date, time,
math, and financial functions. The program supports unlimited
sorts using EMS along with B-tree indexing. DataEase reports that
the program can handle up to 2000 files per database with 2
billion records per file.
 
The program runs on IBM PCs and compatibles with DOS 3.1 or
higher, and 640K bytes of RAM. It supports Novell, IBM, 3Com,
Banyan, and AT&T network operating systems.
