Altsys reports it will ship in December 1989 a utility that can
convert printer resident PostScript fonts into editable outline
formats that you can use in a drawing program on the Mac.
Metamorphosis grabs the outline of the font from the printer
and brings it into the Mac.

During the process, you can use Altsys's Fontgrapher, a
PostScript font design program, to create new Type 3 PostScript
fonts that you can use in your Mac application. Or, you can use
the fonts as artwork in Aldus FreeHand and Adobe Illustrator.

Metamorphosis runs on the Mac Plus or higher. It can convert
fonts using PostScript printers from the LaserWriter to
professional typesetting machines, the company reports.

Price: $295.
