EasyNet NOS/2 supports system memory block (SMB) and NetBIOS
protocols, providing compatibility to network applications, as
well as software and hardware products. You can use EasyNet NOS/2
for networking needs ranging from a two-station RS-232C printer
and file-sharing system to a 200-station Ethernet LAN because
EasyNet provides an upgrade path that lets you start small and
expand without having to change your network operating system.

The software provides remote despoolers, a developers tool kit, a
NetBIOS status utility program, a Standard Application
Architecture Common User Access interface, and security. In addi-
tion, NOS/2 incorporates an unload feature that lets you unload
the network for large memory applications without rebooting your
PC. Background spooling helps you manage print jobs, forms selec-
tion, and printer output priorities; you can add or delete
resources without disrupting network operations.

The LAN can grow to accommodate up to 254 stations per network.
Logical device assignment includes printers and all disk drives.
The operating system uses standard DOS SHARE.EXE for compatible
file and record locking. You can reconfigure from a workstation
to peer to server, without rebooting.

EasyNet NOS/2 requires an IBM PC XT with DOS 3.1 and 55-60K
bytes of memory plus NetBIOS per workstation, 90-120K bytes plus
NetBIOS for the server, and 150-180K bytes plus NetBIOS for a
peer. EasyNet is available in five, 10, 32, and unlimited user
licenses, called NOS/2-305, NOS/2-310, NOS/2-332, and NOS/2-3XX,
respectively.

EasyNet Systems also offers LanStat, a network diagnostic tool
that can help you install and maintain NetBIOS-based LANs. The
menu-driven software assists the network administrator in
identifying the source of errors and communications failures
between computers on the network.

You can monitor the NetBIOS activity of any workstation,
server, or peer on the network. LanStat can track the status of a
specific network adapter card, network data transmissions, and
station-session status. You can collect data on any node on the
LAN, while the node is in use, and view network node resources
without disturbing network activity. In addition, LanStat lets
you set a sample time for long-term data collection and analysis.

LanStat runs on the IBM PC XT with DOS 3.1 and a 8- or 16-bit
NetBIOS network communications adapter, with NetBIOS software. It
supports star, bus, or token-ring configurations.
