A new version of QAPlus, the diagnostic software program for
IBM PCs, will soon be available in versions for EISA 80486
machines, DiagSoft announced this week. Scheduled for first
quarter 1990 delivery, QAPlus/EISA includes the same new user
interface as DiagSoft's versions for computer manufacturers and
field engineers.

DiagSoft says the various incarnations of QAPlus 4.1 (including
the one for Unix) all have pull-down menus and give plain
English descriptions of errors. QAPlus can list the possible
causes of a malfunction and recommend a fix.

QAPlus reports interrupt information, BIOS type, DMA channel
and interrupt usage, DOS version, and other system data. It
provides benchmarks for the CPU, video and math speed,
track-to-track seek time, average seek time, and DOS file
transfer speed. A keyboard test checks standard and enhanced
keyboards. The video test portion supports EGA and VGA.

QAPlus/mfg provides attended or unattended burn-in
capabilities, helping you isolate failing or marginal chips and
circuitry before you ship a machine.

QAPlus/fe, for field engineers, supports remote diagnostics.
You can use it to reconfigure a system, do a low-level format,
and perform sector interleaving on hard disk drives.

Price: $134.95; QAPlus/mfg, $750 for 10 units; QAPlus/fe,
$349.95; QAPlus/EISA, "under $200."
