Servio Logic has announced shipping schedules for two new
products. In December, a Nexpert Object bridge for its
object-oriented database, GemStone, will be shipping and a C++
interface will be relased in the first quarter of 1990.

With the two interfaces, GemStone will provide C++, Smalltalk,
and Nexpert Object bindings. The GemStone/C++ interface includes
a class library, derived from the Smalltalk class library
developed at Xerox PARC, that provides a useful application
framework. You can also use GemStone as a standalone DBMS. Its
native language, called OPAL, is an object-oriented DDL (data
definition language) and DML (data manipulation language).

The GemStone "object server" runs on Sun 3 and 4 workstations.
These same workstations can double as clients; PCs and Macs
running C++, Smalltalk, or Nexpert Object applications can also
use the GemStone server.

GemStone runs on Sun 3 and 4 workstations.

Price: Four-user version for the Sun 3, $22,000; for the Sun 4,
$32,000.
