If you're frustrated with the printer limitations of OS/2-based
LANs, LAN System's LANSpool for OS/2 Networks is a product that
will solve the problem. It's a print server program that lets
you attach multiple shared printers to any DOS workstation
that's connected to an OS/2 network such as Microsoft's LAN
Manager or 3Com's 3+Open. The package eliminates your having to
attach printers only to OS/2 servers.

LAN systems says that LANspool works with the network operating
system's print queues so that you don't need to use your local
workstation's local memory. It uses 2K bytes of RAM per shared
printer when it's operating in background mode, and no memory at
all at the printing PC.

The product conforms to IBM's CUA (Common User Access) standard,
and runs in both resident and non-resident modes. In nonresident
mode, LAN Spooler uses the client/server model. This lets the
network server handle the majority of the processing. It comes
with an unlimited-use license.

Price: $395.
