You can locate, organize, and control documents across a LAN with
ReferencePoint, a set of file management utilities formerly
available only on mainframe and minicomputer systems, according
to M-Trade.

The program maintains a catalog card with file descriptions
for project, document name, author, software type, and keywords
(which you can use to find and access files), and it
automatically tracks file size, date of last revision, and
current user.

Much as you borrow books from a public library, you check out
files for work from ReferencePoint as you need them. When you
create a new file or edit an existing file, ReferencePoint
automatically invokes the appropriate applications software. When
you are finished with a file, you return it before leaving the
ReferencePoint program, so files are always available and the
network remains uncluttered.

ReferencePoint works with most popular application programs,
including Lotus 1-2-3, Symphony, WordPerfect, Microsoft Word,
MultiMate, and DisplayWrite. You can invoke any DOS-compatible
program automatically from within ReferencePoint. It is also
compatible with major network operating systems, including Novell
NetWare, 3Com 3+, Banyan VINES, IBM PC Network, and Microsoft
Networks. System requirements include an IBM PC with 256K bytes
of RAM, DOS 3.0, and one double-sided floppy-disk drive.

Price: L450 for each five-user license.
